East Rutherford, N.J. (May 20, 2009) - Players from the Girls Under 12 Junior Rough Rider team, coached by Lauren Bishar, participated in the finals of the Red Bulls Superdome Cup and made it to the finals at Giants Stadium on Saturday May 16th. Jennifer Balazan, Kelly DiGregorio, Lyndsey Escalona, Monica Festa, Kayla Gansrow, Lauren and Sam Miesemer beat the Staten Island Red 4-1 to take home the Cup.

They played great all-round soccer and joined the other participating teams for a “Parade of Champions” on the field during halftime of the Red Bulls-Houston game. 

Coach Lauren Bishar’s outstanding resume includes recently receiving an NSCAA Regional A Diploma and being named Head Varsity Coach or the girls team at Port Washington High School. Her coaching and playing experiences, along with her background in education make her an outstanding youth coach. She has been the Long Island Rough Riders program for four years and is currently the Technical Director, helping oversee the girls program.

The Rough Riders Girls Under 8 team had a thrill of a lifetime on Saturday when they took part in a pre-game match at Giants Stadium before the Red Bull N.Y.-Houston Dynamo game.

Last week, the girls were featured on the WPIX Morning Show with Larry Hoff at the Rough Riders Training Center located at Mitchel Field in Uniondale. The girls took part in various drills and scrimmages and incorporated Hoff as they prepared for Saturday’s match.
