The Junior Rough Riders is a year-round youth development program. Integrated with the Rough Riders men and women’s soccer franchise, the Junior Rough Riders is designed for talented youth players destined for collegiate, professional or international careers. Individuals who are chosen for the Junior Rough Riders become part of an elite player community called the Long Island Rough Riders. This community represents the best youth players on Long Island.

HISTORY

The Rough Riders are
Long Island’s leading youth development organization! Since their inception in 1994, the Rough Riders Men’s and Women’s Team have consistently developed elite level soccer players, ranging from players who have represented the United States National Team to playing on prestigious Division I college teams.
 
PROVEN RESULTS

Junior Rough Riders Teams train year-round on a weekly basis while competing in premier leagues and national tournaments.  With the main emphasis on proper player development, Junior Rough Riders have won many prestigious team accolades while individuals have received college scholarships from the exposure of playing on the Long Island Rough Riders.

COACHING STAFF

The Long Island Rough Riders are a full-time professional organization that boasts a coaching staff that is one of the best in the nation. The coaching staff includes over 20 NSCAA and USSF licensed coaches with experience ranging from the United States National Team, Major League Soccer, European professional leagues, Youth National Team, regional teams and top level college soccer programs. The Rough Riders have assembled an elite coaching staff committed to player development, sportsmanship, professionalism and teaching creative and positive soccer.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Player development and sportsmanship are the focal points of our program The Junior Rough Riders Developmental Program is a year-round youth development program that is affiliated with the Rough Riders Men’s and Women’s soccer franchise. The Rough Riders are dedicated to identifying and properly developing players that represent the talent associated with Long Island soccer.

Individuals who are chosen for the Junior Rough Riders Developmental Program become part of an elite player community called the Junior Rough Riders. This community represents the best youth players on Long Island.

The purpose of the Junior Rough Riders Youth Program is to develop elite level players while forming cohesive teams that can successfully compete at the highest level of the game.

The Rough Riders Coaching Staff prepares players with the technical, tactical, physical and psychological elements to compete at the highest playing level of American soccer.

TRYOUTS

New for the 2010-2011 season, the Under-8 Junior Rough Riders will split into two teams, East and West.  The East team will train at Dowling College (Shirley Campus), and the West team will train at St. Anthony’s High School (South Huntington).

Tryouts for the Under-8 East team will be held at Dowling College, and tryouts for the West team will be held at Bethpage State Park Polo Grounds.  Tryouts for the Under-9 through Under-13 teams will be held at Bethpage State Park Polo Grounds.

Tryouts will be held in the second week of September.  The 2010-11 program will commence as of October 1st. 

NEW FOR 2010-11: The Under-8 Junior Rough Riders will split into two teams, East and West:

                      Friday September 24th (Girls)
Times: 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Fee: $10
Location: Bethpage State Park Polo Fields (West) / Dowling College (East)


There will be two tryouts for the Developmental Program.  The first tryout will be for open participants.  The second tryout will be an invitational tryout based on player performance from the first tryout.  The tryout registration fee is $10.00.
