The Long Island Rough Riders held their annual Junior Rough Riders Day at Cunningham Sports Center, Fresh Meadows, NY. The event is a celebration of our franchises youth program and was enjoyed by all players and their families in attendance.

Tampa, FL (November 2, 2009) - The United Soccer Leagues announced the list of players that were nominated and selected for the 2009/10 Super Y-League ODP National Camps and eleven Long Island Rough Riders have been selected to participate.

Two years after  being named to the coaching staff of the U.S. Under-17 National Team, three former Long Island Rough Riders  will lead the team at this week’s FIFA 2009 U-17 World Cup in Nigeria.

Tampa, FL (October 23, 2009) - The United Soccer Leagues (USL) announced the Super Y-League (SYL) First and Second-11 Club rankings for the 2009 regular season, recognizing the league’s top clubs on a competitive and administrative basis. Finishing in all three categories was the Long Island Rough Riders.

Last week, the Long Island Rough Riders held an orientation session for the parents of the Under-8 through Under-13 teams. The orientation was a chance to explain the goals of the Junior Rough Riders program and to introduce the Passport-to-Play program, which will begin in the spring of 2010.

As part of "College Day", members of the Junior Rough Riders girls program attended Sunday’s St. John’s Red Storm women’s team match against Indiana University with a college Q&A session held afterwards for parents.

Plainview, NY (August 31, 2009) – The Rough Riders, Long Island’s premier soccer franchise, is proud to announce their exciting new Passport-to-Play program for the Junior Rough Riders.

The Rough Riders boys under 9 team took part in the East End Tournament in Mastic Beach. The two-day event saw the Rough Riders take first place and go undefeated in five games.

Adding to the list of Junior Rough Riders teams that have qualified for the USL Super-Y League North American Finals, the Boys Under 13's won their final game of the season 3-0 and will participate in the tournament this November in Tampa, Florida.

The Rough Riders girls under 10 competed in the Sarah Parvin Memorial 24 Hour Soccerfest benefiting the American Cancer Society over the weekend and went undefeated, winning the tournament playing up an age.   

The crowd at the top of USL Super-Y League’s Boys U14 Mid Atlantic Division is crowded, but one of the teams on the brink of qualifying for Nationals this coming November in Tampa, Florida is part of the Rough Riders organization.

The Long Island Rough Riders Girls Under 15 team is making a run at the USL’s Super-Y League Nationals to held in Tampa, Florida in November.

Hershey, PA (June 20, 2009) - The Long Island Rough Riders Girls Under 10 team took two first place awards at the Hershey Invitational and Kicks for Kids Charity tournament.  Both teams teams went a combined 8 - 0 with wins against very strong competition from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. 

Plainview, NY (June 9, 2009) – The Long Island Rough Riders are pleased to announce the hiring of Ron Alber as the Director of Player Identification for the Rough Riders women’s W-League team. In this capacity, Ron will also assist in the continued development of Junior Rough Riders program.

East Rutherford, N.J. (May 20, 2009) - The Girls Under 8 and Under 12 Junior Rough Riders teams recently had the opportunity to play at Giants Stadium before a Red Bull NY match and were both victorious.

A few weeks after taking home first place at the Ramapo Valley Tournament, the Rough Riders girls U9 team, led by coach Bill Hender, went 3-0 and clinched a spot in the tournament final to be played May 16th at Giants Stadium.

Plainview, NY (March 12, 2009) – Current Junior Rough Rider coaches, Shaun Higgins, Lauren Bishar, JP DiStefano, Anthony Barberio, and Paul Roderick all earned the LIJSL "A" Diploma and an NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma at an intensive course over the last month held at the Rough Riders Training Center at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
