The Rough Riders Women's Team, formally known as the Lady Riders, is the highest level of women's soccer on Long Island. The Rough Riders play in the W-League in the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The W-League is currently the only league for women's soccer in the United States, and features numerous National Team and World Cup participants. The 2008 season will mark the Rough Riders second year in existance. The team consists of local and national collegiate standouts and former professional players from the WUSA.

Plainview, NY (February 17,2008)- The Long Island Rough Riders have made their first key acquisition of the offseason, signing Hofstra University standout and All-American Sue Weber, pending approval from the league.
Weber, who hails from West Islip, N.Y., will anchor the Rough Riders defense in their second season in the United Soccer Leagues W-League. After beginning her collegiate career at the University of Georgia, Weber transferred to Hofstra, where she has quickly become their most highly touted player.
Rough Riders Add Firepower with Kaplan

Plainview, NY (February 19, 2008) – The Rough Riders have increased their offensive arsenal, adding Becky Kaplan for the 2008 W-League season, pending league approval.
Kaplan, who recently signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Maryland in the fall, will join a Rough Riders squad that scored 20 goals in 2007. She was also recruited by Miami (Fl.), Clemson, and Tennessee.

The Long Island Rough Riders have announced their 2008 schedule, with the teams starting their home campaign in a May 10th double-header. The Men's Team will being their season against the New Hampshire Phantoms on Saturday, May 3rd, while the Women's Team will kick off their second season at home against the Washington Freedom on Saturday, May 10th.
