Women Dominate in Rematch

South Huntington, NY (July 10, 2010) – The Long Island Rough Riders Women’s team strong run continued on Saturday at Cy Donnelly Stadium.  The Women captured their third straight victory (second in a row versus the Rangers), and are making a run at the playoffs.

After the rain clouds cleared at Cy Donnelly Stadium this past Saturday, the Women took the field with the hopes of defeating the NJ Rangers for the second weekend in a row.  The Rough Riders came out strong with goals in the 2nd minute (Ayinde) and 7th minute (Sciascia).

“I am very proud at how the girls came out strong to take an early advantage,” said Rough Riders Head Coach Steve Cadet.  “We have been playing our best soccer of late, and are hoping to keep it up in our final two matches of the season.”

The Women went into the half with a 2-0 advantage, and continued to control the ball in the second half.  Laura Greene scored her third goal of the year in the 68th minute off a pass from Amanda Ferranti.  They concluded their scoring in the 74th minute with a goal from Kathryn Nagy, her first of the season.

The match ended with the Rough Riders coming out on top, 4-0.  They now stand fourth in their division with 18 points and a 6-4-0 record.  The Women will play their next match against another New Jersey opponent, the Wildcats, on Wednesday July 18th at 6:00 PM.  This match will be played at Cy Donnelly Stadium.
